Candidate: My name is Dr. XYZ. I am the treating doctor for today. May i confirm your name and age please.Examiner: Doctor my name is XYZ and I am 30 years old.
Candidate: XYZ what has brought you to the clinic?
Examiner: Doctor, I am having cough, runny nose and sore throat.
Candidate: Would you mind if i ask you few further questions?
Examiner: Sure doctor you can.
Candidate: For how long you have these symptoms?
Examiner: Doctor its been 3 days.
Candidate: Any additional symptoms you have MR. XYZ?
Examiner: Yes doctor, i am having fever, chills and muscle aches. It is very difficult for me to breath. I am having cough with green sputum.
Candidate: Do you have any recent travel history?
Examiner: Yes doctor i went to ABC country 1 week back.
Candidate: Do you have any idea what is happening with you?
Examiner: No doctor...
Candidate: I understand. Let me explain this to you. You can stop me in between my conversation. So based on the signs and symptoms and the recent travel history. You are most probably contracted Covid-19 virus. We are going to do you chest X-ray, complete blood work and nasal swab for the virus. This will help us in confirming the diagnosis.Do you have any concerns?
Examiner: But doctor i am quite worried about my difficulty in breathing...... and a number of people are dying of this deadly virus.....
Candidate: I appreciate your concerns. This must be a very stressful situation for you, but let me reassure you that you are in safe hands. The possibility of death is very minute from COVID-19 in your age group. We have seen major recoveries from COVID-19 after getting admitted. Still there is a risk involved and this risk can be decreased by isolation and hospital care. We are going to keep you slotted in our hospital. For difficulty in breathing, we are going to give oxygen and IV fluids will be commenced and regular monitoring will be done.
Examiner: But doctor i don't want to stay in hospital and in isolation.
Candidate: I can understand you have been away from home recently and you want to stay at home with family. unfortunately, COVID-19 is a contagious disease and it could be easily transferred from one person to another and there would be high risk to members of family. The best way to keep others safe is to wear N95 mask, frequent hand washing and stay isolated from family for 14 days.
Examiner: OK doctor I don't want to infect my family.
Candidate: I will call an ambulance that will take you to hospital safely in short time.
Examiner: Thank you doctor.
Candidate: Wish you a speedy recovery.
